Japanese Tuner Turns Toyota Land Cruiser Into Street Truck

When it comes to off-roading, the Toyota Land Cruiser is often the first SUV that comes to mind, while other boxy SUVs like the Mercedes-Benz G-Wagen are typically seen for luxury and street performance with rugged off-road roots. However, this Land Cruiser flips that on its head. A Japanese tuner blended the new 250-Series Land Cruiser’s capability with an aggressive, street-focused style, giving it a look that could easily be mistaken for a Brabus-tuned G-Wagen.

A Land Cruiser That Looks Like A G-Wagen

The new 250-Series Land Cruiser is built on Toyota’s global truck platform, which also supports the Tacoma and the 4Runner in the U.S. It’s powered by a turbocharged 2.4-liter hybrid engine that produces 326 horsepower and 465 lb-ft of torque, a significant amount for a smaller engine in a large truck that weighs just over 5,000 pounds. It has a full-time four-wheel-drive drivetrain, center and rear locking differentials, and an available front stabilizer bar disconnect. This Land Cruiser from Wald International is a different take on the legendary off-road SUV.

Wald International’s “Desert Series Black Bison Edition” Cruiser looks wild with its custom front bumper, unique intakes, daytime running lights, and rugged aluminium skid plate. It’s most of a body kit. Features like a hood scoop, roof fins, integrated LEDs, and wide fender flares give it a beastly appearance. It also has a lift kit for larger wheels and tires and a wider track.

Surely, this Cruiser has upgrades under the hood. However, details regarding performance enhancements and pricing remain unannounced. Wald International takes pride in being a tuner specializing in “high-quality aerodynamic body kits and styling accessories that transform your vehicle into a head-turning masterpiece.”

A stock Land Cruiser starts at around $60,000 in the U.S., so expect this model to cost close to six figures. That’s a lot cheaper than a Brabus G-Wagen, which can sometimes cost over $1 million.
