Mustang Of The Day: 2008 Ford Mustang Shelby GT-C
In 2006, Shelby collaborated once again with Ford to create a new high-performance Mustang, named the Shelby GT-H (H for Hertz). 500 of these special cars were sold to the Hertz rental agency, mirroring the approach taken 40 years earlier with the GT350.
Due to the GT-H’s popularity, Shelby American and Ford introduced the Shelby GT to the general public in 2007. It featured a 4.6L V-8 engine with a Ford Racing FR1 Power Pack, incorporating a 90mm cold air induction, an X-pipe, and a muffler kit that increased the power output to 319 HP. Performance upgrades also included a racing suspension with revised dampers, springs, and sway bars, lowering the car by 1.5 inches.
In 2008, Shelby manufactured a limited run of only 215 Shelby GTs with special livery packages for Southern California Ford/Shelby dealers, known as the Shelby GT-C. All these vehicles were finished in Grabber Orange.
The Shelby GT-C featured a 5-speed manual transmission, Hurst short throw shifter, billet grille insert, side scoops, Ford Racing front strut tower brace, and 18-inch American Racing wheels with BF Goodrich G-Force T/A tires. Internally, this well-appointed Mustang offered air conditioning, a power driver’s seat, Shaker 500 AM/FM/CD stereo, satin aluminum trim, and a Shelby dash plaque.
