1,600-HP Audi R8 TT Shows Even Beatdowns Are Bigger in Texas

They kept lining up and, one by one, the 2017 Audi R8 TT kept knocking them down. Four supercars, all tuned to the brink of insanity, lined up for 65-mph roll races with the R8 TT but found themselves picking up their gear teeth from the asphalt when it was over.
Audi R8 TT Proves There’s More To Ass-kicking Than Horsepower

Welcome to Texas Motorplex – the land of tire-shredding madness where fans enjoyed a 9,150-horsepower symphony of angry-at-the-world engines that could have drowned out all of Ennis County.
First up against the Audi R8 TT was a 2018 Lamborghini Huracán TT. After nailing a perfect start, the Audi set the tone for the next 14 seconds and made short work of the 1,650-hp Huracan. The Lambo Performante, with its 2,000 horsepower, tried to make a play but just didn’t have the legs to catch up. Down went the Lambo!
The Nissan GTR, always a threat with 1,700 horsepower, was left wondering what just happened as the R8 TT crossed the line with the win light shining brightly on its side. In a sibling brawl, a 2,200-hp Audi R8 TT lined up next to the ‘17 R8 TT, only to discover that sometimes the smaller, underpowered little brother is capable of a big beatdown from time to time.
Audi R8 KOs All Contenders

It was a battle of precision engineering, driver finesse, and let’s be real, pure unadulterated speed. You couldn’t help but wonder if the Lamborghini’s all-wheel-drive system would give it the traction edge, or if the GTR’s tuner-friendly rep would pull off a win. But no, this race had one clear winner.
However, this Audi animal wasn’t born breathing fire; it was forged by TBK Motorsports in West Palm Beach, Florida, where they took a stock R8 TT and turned it into a 1,600-hp street nightmare. Tuned at Pearson Tuned, also in West Palm Beach, the Audi was perfectly dialed in, so it had everything it needed to wipe the track with its rivals. We’re talking stock motor, stock transmission, and a stock engine control unit.
With an AMS turbo kit running G35 turbos under the hood, this thing doesn’t just move, it hurts the asphalt. Hitting 190 mph like it’s a Sunday drive, this Audi R8 TT is proof that sometimes, simplicity is the real recipe for destruction. So, instead of asking what’s been done to it, just respect what it can do.
The Audi R8 pulled off a victory that had the crowd roaring. And despite its relatively simple setup, it showed why tuning matters, and how $80k can turn any factory car into a supercar’s worst nightmare.
And never forget the first rule of roll race club – never underestimate the car or the driver.
