Ultra-Rare Ferrari F40 Blu Has A Past As Wild As Its Looks

For most people, any Ferrari is an exotic car, but this video features a 1 of 1 F40 with a story that has taken it around the world to make it truly unique. This is known as the Ferrari F40 Blu, and may be the most Internet-famous supercar there is. It’s been modified and restored. It’s been passed around through multiple owners on multiple continents and was the first car to sell for over 1 million British Pounds at an online auction.
A Ferrari’s Long Road Trip To Texas
This 1989 Ferrari F40 started life as a European Spec production car, obviously painted in Rosso Corsa red. In 2004, the car was purchased by Japanese car tuner Liberty Walk and painted white and converted to LM spec. After the car had served its purpose of creating social media content and getting a sneaker licensing deal, it was sold to a collection in the UK. Part of the deal was that the car was first shipped to the Ferrari Factory for a full restoration. Not only was the car restored, but it was painted in the now famous, Aqua Blue, which is actually a Porsche factory color.
- Built as a Euro-spec road version, painted Rosso Corsa
- Modified by Liberty Walk, painted white and converted to LM Spec
- Restored by Ferrari, painted Aqua Blue, lived in the UK
- Set record for online auction sale
- Currently part of The Gentleman’s Garage Collection in Houston, Texas
After a few years in England, the car was sold on the online car auction site, The Market. The notable sale was the first to break the million-pound barrier, adding to the car’s legacy. Even with the fame and factory restoration, it was still far from the highest price ever paid for an F40, demonstrating that maybe social media fame isn’t all it’s cracked-up to be.
Where In The World Is F40 Blu?

The current owner of the F40 Blu is The Gentleman’s Garage, a car collection in Houston, Texas. The owner of the collection, who can only be described as exactly what most people think of when you say exotic car owner, is also the host of the video. I will warn you, if you’re playing the car influencer drinking game at home while watching this, you may not make through the first ten minutes. But the sounds of the car are amazing, and you get to look at an F40.
How Does An F40 Drive?

We’ve all seen experts like Chris Harris drive an F40 and tell us how analog it is and how new cars are terrible in comparison. This video is filled with “ballistic acceleration” and “notchy mechanical shifter,” and my favorite, “it rides so well for what it is.” So you won’t find anything new here. I’ve been reviewing cars for almost 25 years. I can honestly say, I’ve never been surprised that a supercar is fast. I do have to congratulate the owner for putting 4,500 miles on a car that would normally sit in an induced coma attached to a battery tender life support system. Keep driving it my tight-shirted friend.
