This ’67 Ford Mustang Isn’t A Classic, It’s Brand New And You Can Build It Yourself

If you have not heard of ECD before, well, you are about to. The custom design company based in central Florida, started by a bunch of guys from the UK, are taking the restomod world by storm. While they started out building Jaguar and Land Rover restomods, the folks at ECD are about to embark on a very ambitious journey that is going to give them some serious cred in the American classic car community.
The latest addition to their restomod lineup of cars is none other than the 1967-68 Ford Mustang. I was invited down to their shop, which is pretty much a proper factory, to see what they have been up to, and I have to say, I am impressed by what they are offering.

The Iconic 1967-1968 Ford Mustang: Why We Love Them

Fastback or convertible? The choice is yours. ECD will build it for you. But, why did ECD choose the 1967-68 Ford Mustang though? That’s because it’s the best Mustang model of all time. Yes, I said it, and I am sure many will agree with me. The custom carmaker recently got their hands on Brand New Muscle Car’s assets – a big deal for Mustang fans. This move lets ECD bring their top-notch restoration skills to classic American muscle. Now, they’re set to give Mustangs the same love and attention they’ve given to Defenders and E-Types. It’s a match made in car heaven!
You get the iconic look of a classic ’67 Mustang, with all the modern conveniences and reliability of a new car. It’s the best of both worlds – pure driving joy without the vintage car headaches.
The 1967 Mustang was very popular when it came out, and it is still a top choice for enthusiasts and custom builders. It was offered with a wide range of powerful engines, including the 390-cubic-inch V8, which delivered impressive performance. The car gained significance and became a cultural icon. Who can forget Steve McQueen driving around in the Mustang from the film Bullitt?
These cars are not cheap either. A used 1967 Ford Mustang will cost you anything from $25,000 to $125,000. You will then have to think about adding all the upgrades yourself, which again will cost you money. If you want to save yourself all that trouble, and if you have the cash to throw around for your dream custom Mustang, it’s much easier to ask ECD to do it for you. The base build will set you back around $269,995, and you get all the goodies mentioned above, but you can further customize the car to every single detail
More Power, No Problem

One of the benefits of having ECD build your dream Mustang is the fact that they have tied up with Roush for your engine and powertrain needs. Based out of Detroit, these guys know everything there is to building a high-performance and reliable engine for custom cars. Every engine carries a 2-year/24,000 mile warranty, and they are built with the highest quality parts. There are plenty of V8 engine packages available, and you can customize the engine as well – from polished aluminum components to custom paint blocks, oil pans and whatever else you need.
There are plenty of engine options for your custom Mustang. You can choose short-block, long-blocks, and also get your hands on competition engines if you want ultimate performance.
The base model gets the 347 SR, which can pump out 410 hp and 400 lb-ft of torque. This is perfect for an everyday ride. However, if you want monster output, you can opt for the 588 R Ford 429/460 engine which pumps out 700hp and 725 lb-ft of torque.
