This 1969 Mustang Mach 1 Has Been Its Owner’s High School Sweetheart Since 1976

This gorgeous 1969 Ford Mustang Mach 1 has been with the same owner since 1976, and it features a fully customized and very patriotic interior.

Original Ford Mustangs are some of the most sought after muscle cars today, and the 1969 Mustang Mach 1 is one of the most special. For this particular owner, the Mustang Mach 1 is a lot more than just a cool muscle car. This particular 1969 Mach 1 has been with the same owner since 1976, since they were in high school, and YouTube channel DezzysSpeedShop was able to capture some footage of it on its trailer.

The Mustang is in incredible condition with a few little modifications, and its black finish with white striping really lets it stand out. It is immaculate, and one of the coolest examples of a classic Mach 1.

The Mustang Sports Modifications To Its Interior

Quite quickly we get a glimpse into the interior of this special Mustang, and it is very heavily modified. New seat designs stand out but so do the crazy new door inserts, with stunning leather combined with a crazy, shiny pattern with the Mustang logo in the center. The owners of this Mustang have also transformed the steering wheel to give it a more modern appearance, while in the center we can see a very extravagant shifter. It is the original shifter, but with red, white, and blue of the American flag that adds a striking patriotic flare.

The American theme continues on the dashboard. The new gauges and a redesigned instrument panel are part of the makeover, as is the big Cobra snake in the center of the dashboard. This snake is in a very patriotic color, with stripes forming its bottom half and stars and blue for the upper half of the snake’s body. This helps complete the insane makeover of the cabin, that still provides a classic muscle car vibes. There are a few changes to the exterior of the Mustang to that add a little extra something.

The Owner Customized The Exterior Of Their 1969 Mach 1

Some exterior revisions are quite subtle. The white stripes stand out but the thin red and blue lining that accents them are beautifully applied. Running along the top section of the side profile is thinner, light blue lining that stands out great on the black of the bodywork. The Mustang has also had fatter tires and a custom wheel design added to it, but the muscle car still retains the iconic lines of the 1960s. The back sees the Mach 1 rear wing as well as Mach 1 badging on the tailgate.

The trademark rear light design is still present, with the Mustang center cap right in the middle of the tailgate. We get a glimpse underneath the Mustang, and it is incredibly clean, with zero signs of any rust or corrosion. The owner calls it “The Beast of Burden” after the Rolling Stones song of the same name. We also get to hear the Mustang fire up while on the trailer and the big V8 engine roars to life with a spectacular soundtrack. The owner graduated from high school in 1976, and this Mustang has been with him since then.

Classic Mach 1 Mustangs Are Worth A Lot Of Money

As you would expect, classic examples of the Mach 1 Mustang can fetch a lot of money. On Classic.com, the highest ever sale for a 1969 Mach 1 was $440,000 in March 2022. Auctioned by Mecum, it had a 616 hp Ford 427 SOHC Cammer V8 engine under the hood. It came from the Mile High Collection, and it was a one-of-a-kind Mustang Mach 1 Fastback that had the name Sin City Shaker.

The average sales figure for the Mach 1 Mustang is $75,246, so they don’t all go for these crazy high sums. But it is not unheard of for the Mustangs to push up close to the $200,000 figure. Showing how strong the demand is for classic examples. The first generation of the Mustang is often regarded as the finest of the lot, and one of the greatest muscle cars in history. The 2024 Mustang does not yet have a Mach 1 as part of its lineup, but with Ford heavily committed to the muscle car there is still a possibility it could return in the future.
