The proud owner of a $5 million Aston Martin Valkyrie splurged $50,000 on meticulous detailing and a full-body PPF wrap, yet the technician had to tread lightly, because hitting the wrong switch could rack up a $220,000 bill

The Aston Martin Valkyrie is essentially a $5 million racecar for the road, with a V12 engine in the back capable of over 1,000 horsepower and Formula 1 team Red Bull Racing’s engineering prowess behind it. Naturally, owners of this ultra-exclusive hypercar are expected to take it to the track to really unleash its potential.

But when you’re the owner of an Aston Martin Valkyrie Spider in a one-off Gulf livery paint scheme, you’d probably be willing to spend a little extra to protect its paint job before you hit the racetrack. As a result, professional detailer and YouTuber Larry Kosilla of AMMO NYC gets his hands on this Valkyrie, tasked with carrying out a full detail, paint correction, and full PPF.

For those of you who have heard of AMMO NYC, this should come as no surprise. Kosilla is one of the best when it comes to high-level automotive detailing. A regular car cleaning booked at AMMO NYC can run you over $2,500! Some of AMMO NYC’s concours-level detailing can set a client back up to $50,000 according to the New York Times. We expect a full clean, paint correction, and full PPF on this Valkyrie could cost as much, considering PPF jobs don’t come cheap either.

The process begins with Kosilla backing the Valkyrie out of its trailer and driving it into his garage. Rather, the process begins with a phone call to the Aston Martin engineer on details of how to start and drive the car.

Kosilla remarks that there are a number of buttons he shouldn’t be pressing, because to do so would have disastrous consequences. Pressing one particular button the wrong way could result in a $220,000 fix! Further, since the Valkyrie has been customised for the owner, Kosilla barely fits.

With the car in his garage, Kosilla proceeds to carefully wash and detail the entire hypercar. An especially painstaking process since the Valkyrie needs special Formula 1-style jacks to lift it off the floor. Despite the colossal price tag, Kosilla finds paint defects, including a speck of dust in the paint, that need fixing. With the paint correction done, Kosilla puts down the high-end PPF to protect the Valkyrie’s carbon fibre skin and soft paint from stone chips that are a part of any track day.

With a hypercar like the Valkyrie, it’s refreshing to see an owner intend to use the car as it was designed. It’s even nicer to see that he cares enough about the car to lay down potentially big money into protecting its paint finish, rather than just rough it out and repaint it later. As they say, when you have deep pockets, the sky’s the limit.
